At Camp M.O.E., the safety and well-being of every camper is our top priority. Our staff is dedicated to creating a secure and nurturing environment where children can explore, grow, and make lasting memories. We take a comprehensive approach to safety, covering everything from waterfront protection to staff training and established policies to ensure a fun and safe experience for all.
Advanced Aquatics Safety & the Wave Drowning Detection System
Water safety is paramount at Camp M.O.E., and we have implemented industry-leading measures to protect campers during swimming and boating activities. Our waterfront is staffed by certified lifeguards, and all campers participate in swim tests to ensure they are engaging in age-appropriate activities.
We are proud to utilize the Wave Drowning Detection System, an innovative technology that provides an added layer of safety at our waterfront. Each swimmer wears a lightweight tracker that continuously monitors their movement and alerts staff immediately if a swimmer is at risk. This cutting-edge system enhances our already rigorous safety protocols, giving parents peace of mind when their children are enjoying the water.
Counselor Training : CPR, First Aid & Emergency Preparedness
Our staff undergoes extensive safety training to handle a wide range of situations. Counselors are certified in CPR and First Aid, ensuring they are prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency. In addition, our lifeguards receive Red Cross lifeguard certification and advanced waterfront rescue training.
Beyond medical training, our staff participates in emergency drills and child safety workshops throughout the summer to reinforce best practices for camper supervision and well-being.
Safety Policies & Procedures
Camp M.O.E. follows a strict set of policies to ensure a safe and structured environment for all campers. Some of our key safety measures include:
- Camper Supervision: Staff maintain a low camper-to-counselor ratio to ensure every child is actively supervised.
- Health Screenings: Daily health checks help us monitor camper well-being and prevent the spread of illness.
- Secure Check-In & Check-Out: Only authorized individuals can pick up campers, and identification is required.
- Emergency Action Plan: We have well-established procedures for weather-related emergencies, evacuations, intruders, wildlife, and medical situations.
- Behavior & Bullying Prevention: We foster a welcoming environment and have clear guidelines for positive behavior, with proactive measures in place to address any concerns.
- Staffing: All staff have comprehensive background checks for criminal and sex registry. All staff are in the BCIS System and background checked with Connecticut DCF
At Camp M.O.E., we understand that safety is a top concern for parents, and we are committed to providing a secure, enriching experience where children can thrive. If you have any questions about our safety policies or procedures, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
